A Long Island City comedy club is hosting an event Saturday night (tomorrow) to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
The Creek and The Cave (10-93 Jackson Ave.) will present “Comedy Relief”, which will feature seven comedians, many of them from Queens. The club said that all ticket sales will be donated to the Ciao Relief Fund, a group founded in 1964 as part of the Congress of Italian-Americans.
Rebecca Trent, the owner of the club, has done her homework in selecting the Ciao Relief Fund. In November, she said: “I’m not going to do a benefit until I find an organization that I’m comfortable with.”
Ciao’s volunteers have been providing labor, and delivering cleaning supplies and clothing to hard-hit areas around Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island.
Many of the comics who will perform Saturday (see poster) make frequent appearances on Comedy Central and MTV.
The evening will feature raffles during an after-party.
Tickets are $20 and there are few remaining.
