Mount Sinai Queens is looking to help everyone get a jump-start on the winter season with a free Family Health Day in Long Island City this Saturday.
In conjunction with a total revamp of the hospital facility, Mount Sinai is hosting the Family Health Day on Saturday at LIC Landing in the hopes of advertising its new facilities, while offering healthy activities and free health checks for all ages.
The programming for the event will include free yoga and dance classes, as well as music, nutritious food and health counseling, such as nutrition counseling and blood pressure screening.
“We wanted to bring what we do best to the community—good healthcare. Our staff knows how to do health screenings, put on fun activities and offer giveaways; we wanted to acquaint people with our exponentially growing health services,” said Shelly Felder, a spokesperson for Mount Sinai Queens.
She explained that the hospital is undergoing a huge expansion, and the event offered a dual purpose—to share the improvements with the
community, while also encouraging healthy lifestyles. “It’s a new initiative to let residents understand and know about the amazing health system right in their backyard,” Felder said.
The hospital partnered with several Long Island City organizations to put the event on, including the Hunters Point Park Conservancy, the Long Island City Partnership, and many other local groups involved in the area.
The event will run from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday at LIC Landing at 52-10 Center Boulevard.

Pretty clever way to troll for patients.
Go back to Astoria.
our tax dollars at work — as always –
A private hospital investing heavily in our neighborhood by opening new facilities decides to offer a free and useful event to the community, and you offer a warped, wrong and incredibly stupid opinion to crap down on it. I swear to god, I really don’t understand certain people in LIC anymore. What the hell. Are we really that effed up in this neighborhood or is this just one nitwit?
