MoMA PS1 to start offering free admission to NYC residents Sunday

MoMA PS1

Oct. 8, 2015 Staff Report

Admission to MoMA PS1 will be free for New York City residents for 12 months, starting Sunday, Oct. 11.

Residents will get free access to the museum by presenting proof of residency, such as a driver’s license, state-issued identification card or a utility bill.

New York City residents can attend the museum as often as they would like until October 15, 2016. However, the free admission does not cover concerts, performances, fundraisers, and ticketed events.

MoMA PS1 is offering free admission after receiving a grant from the Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Foundation.

The museum would not disclose the dollar amount of the grant. The grant aims to encourage more people to view its exhibits.

Admission to MoMA PS1 is currently a $10 suggested donation for adults and a $5 suggested donation for seniors and students.

“MoMA PS1 in Queens has many exhibitions that should be seen by everybody from all five boroughs,” said Marina Kellen French, vice president of the Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Foundation.

“I hope the gift will help MoMA PS1 efforts to lower the barriers to enter the museum and reach out to an even wider audience,” she added.
