Man breaks into Petey’s Burger, takes $1,000 cash

Peteys

Feb. 1, 2015 By Christian Murray

A burglar broke into Petey’s Burger in the early hours Sunday morning and took off with more than $1,000 cash, according to police.

The suspect smashed through the glass front door at about 3:20am to gain entry to the 46-46 Vernon Blvd restaurant, police said.

The perpetrator then walked over to the cash register and took $1,000 cash, according to police.

The incident was caught on camera, although it was difficult to make out who the perpetrator was since it was dark, according to a Petey’s worker who has viewed it. He said that the suspect left a lot of finger prints.

The front door at Petey’s is currently covered with plywood, since the glass is broken.

Several burglaries have taken place on Vernon Blvd in the past year—although none in recent months.

Last June, a burglar smashed through the glass door at Manducatis Rustica (46-33 Vernon) and took $700, two iPads and two iPad minis. Then days later, Woodbines (47-10 Vernon) was broken into the same way, with $100 cash and an iPad taken. Both incidents took place overnight.

A man also broke into LICBar (45-58 Vernon Blvd) by smashing through a side window in the early hours of July 4 but got nothing.
