Elizabeth Warren to Head to Long Island City on Friday for 2020 Organizing Event

March 6, 2019 By Nathaly Pesantez

Elizabeth Warren, the U.S. senator from Massachusetts who announced last month that she would be running for president in 2020, will be in Long Island City this Friday for an organizing event.

Warren will be at The Arc, the new Kaufman Arts district venue at 36-30 36th St., on March 8 for the 7 p.m. event, according to details from her campaign page.

The Long Island City location marks Warren’s first stop in New York for her presidential bid, where she is running a “grassroots movement” focused on “ending Washington corruption” and “rebuilding the middle class.”

The Massachusetts senator said in her early February campaign launch that “this is the fight of our lives,” and referred to President Trump as “just the latest and most extreme symptom of what’s gone wrong in America.”

“Elizabeth knows that to create real change – to rebuild the middle class and save our democracy – we need to dream big and fight hard,” reads part of the message posted to the March 8 event. “That’s why she’s in this fight: to have a real conversation about how to level the playing field for working families, and who is best to lead that fight.”

The event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required, but an RSVP is strongly encouraged. Admission is first come, first serve. The event starts at 7 p.m. but doors will be open beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Warren is one of several Democratic contenders in the presidential race, including Bernie Sanders, the Vermont senator who held a kick-off rally at Brooklyn College just days ago, and California Sen. Kamala Harris.

Her stop in Long Island City comes weeks after Amazon pulled out of plans to build corporate offices in the neighborhood. Warren, who was critical of the project, said at the time news broke of canceled plans that “one of the wealthiest companies on the planet–just walked away from billions in taxpayer bribes, all because some elected officials in New York aren’t sucking up to them enough.”

“How long will be allow giant corporations to hold our democracy hostage?” she tweeted.

My fake numbers?

This is a report published by the city government. I’m sorry that the truth hurts you.

Agreed, Queens is not "Queens is largely home to illegals"

…and those number say that a very small minority of Queens residents are undocumented. Thanks for proving me right!

According to this report published by the city government, there’s at least 200K illegals in Queens (page 11)…so could be less, could be more. Once you add in their anchor babies, their ilk is probably at least double the 200K estimate.

By the way, I’m a brown American born citizen to LEGAL immigrants. I’m disgusted by illegals of all ethnicities exploiting this country. Illegal immigration is a slap in the face to everyone coming to this country the correct way; it needs to stop.

No where in that document does it say that.

But assuming your fake numbers are correct, that would mean a VERY SMALL MINORITY of Queens residents are undocumented, which is very different than “Queens is largely home to illegals”.

Thank you for providing more evidence that “Queens is largely home to illegals” is completely false.

I believe 246, 000 are estimated to be Illegal in Queens alone. There was a article in the Post about a week ago . Borough by Borough Queens had the most and is considered the Immigrant borough anyway. Remember this is a estimate, there are probably MORE.

She’s coming to Queens to talk about rebuilding the middle class?

Does she realize Queens is largely home to illegals working cash jobs and sucking up public benefits?

There’s no middle class left here, they’ve all fled.

Please find and post accurate directions from Manhattan: the MTA trip planner is not working very well.

She is the corruption in Washington and supports an agenda that aids in the struggle of the middle class. This should be fun
