Feb. 10, 2016 Staff Report

Two men pushed a 30-year-old woman to the ground and took off with her purse near the LINC LIC building earlier this month, police said.

The woman was walking home from work at about 11:15 pm on Feb. 1 when two men approached her from behind and pushed her to the ground at the south east corner of 43rd Avenue and Crescent Street.

After a brief struggle, the men took her purse and fled from the scene, according to police. The two men were last seen running eastbound on Crescent Street.

The woman was not injured. However, the men stole her Michael Kors bag, iPhone 6 and some personal information.

Police described one of the men as black, 19-years-old, approximately 5’9″ tall, weighing 150 lbs., with short black hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, gray hooded sweat jacket.

The other man was described as black, approximately 6’2″ tall, with an Afro. He was last seen wearing grey sweatpants and a grey hooded sweat jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

“If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.” We learned that in preschool…and it still holds true in many circumstances. If only some adults leading this administrator remembered that.

Really?

So if it’s black and wearing a hoodie it’s a criminal? We also learned in preschool that racism is wrong.

If it is by a cop trying to do his/her job then i couldn’t care less. I look at it as a deterrent and i am Hispanic. Most of us have nothing to hide. All these small crimes are on the rise. Its only a matter of time before more people get injured and we will have another Bernhard Hugo Goetz case. That is what happens when law abiding citizens begin to feel unprotected. And that is why there are now more guns than people in the United States.

I feel bad for the woman but maybe it will discourage more Luxury Buildings from being built. Too many Snobby Yuppies and Hipsters here already.

I bet she was robbed by one of the snobby, newbie, hipsters that are invading YOUR neighborhood.

True, it’s not her fault. But exercise a little common sense if you are walking alone at night. You aren’t in Peoria anymore.

Really?

Why would you assume she wasn’t exercising common sense? And what, is she supposed to hire a bouncer to walk her home after work? I don’t understand how anyone with a sane mind could blame this person for her own mugging. Keep your nonsense in your own heads please.

You don’t walk alone at night in that area. That’s not nonsense, it’s common sense. Take a cab.

Or take a risk and increase your odds of being mugged. You’re in New York City, not some small-town in a Frank Capra movie.

real

I do not know about this particular circumstance but more people should trust their instincts and use some street smarts! It is better to walk away and/or cross the street then to be robbed because you did not want to offend two teens who look like they are from the “housing projects” and up to no good. In many instances, those of us born and raised here could spot subtle to major differences in behaviors from thugs “on the prowl” and the rest of us. The same way these criminals profile there next target and decide who would be an easy victim then, we need to try and protect ourselves and wake up.

Hmmmmm

If she got off at Queensboro plaza this is the most direct route to the building

It’s not her fault some worthless thugs are waiting to push a woman down and rob her.

Little coward punks.

Twenty people indicted in Queens-based $4.6M vehicle theft ring after three-year probe: DA

Twenty individuals were indicted and variously charged in a wide-ranging scheme to steal cars in Queens, throughout New York City and its suburbs, following a three-year investigation by the Queens District Attorney’s Office, the NYPD, and the New York State Police dubbed “Operation Hellcat,” into the criminal enterprise based in Queens.

Some of the vehicles were stolen from owners’ driveways, some with the keys or key fobs inside. The stolen vehicles were often sold through advertisements on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. The defendants are charged in nine separate indictments for a total of 373 counts, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced on Thursday.
