Woman attacked and robbed inside a Long Island City subway station, four suspects remain at large: NYPD

A 23-year-old woman was beaten and robbed by a group of four young women inside the 21st Street-Queensbridge subway station in Long Island City during the early morning of Sunday, July 7.

Police from the 114th Precinct in Astoria and Transit District 20 are looking for the four women who allegedly approached the victim at 2:15 a.m. and began to punch and kick her multiple times, causing minor injuries, police said. The suspects then took her cell phone before running off in an unknown direction.

EMS responded to the crime scene and transported the injured woman to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, where she was listed in stable condition.

The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspects and described them as having dark complexions. One had a heavy build and wore a black T-shirt with an orange graphic on the front, denim shorts and black sneakers. The second assailant had a thin build and long black hair. She wore a black tank top, light-colored shorts and black sneakers. The third assailant had a thin build and short black hair and wore denim shorts, a light-colored tank top and white sneakers. The fourth attacker had a heavy build and a dual bun hairdo. She wore a black T-shirt with a pink graphic on the front.

Through July 14, the 114th Precinct has reported 173 robberies so far in 2024, 27 more than the 146 reported at the same point last year, and an increase of 18.5%, according to the most recent CompStat report. Assaults are also rising in the precinct with 318 reported so far this year, 67 more than the 215 reported at the same point in 2023, an increase of 26.7%, according to CompStat.
