A woman who was attempting to swim across the East River last night was rescued by police and the FDNY’s Harbor Unit near Anable Basin, according to official sources.

Residents in Hunters Point apartments saw police and firefighters bring rescue boats to the Anable Basin area to save the woman last night.  The woman’s name and condition has not been released and details of the incident remain sketchy.

“There were tons of cops and fire trucks last night,” one resident said.  “There was big police activity around 44th Drive and Vernon Blvd too.”
