Track work on the Astoria N/W line has begun, causing midday service interruptions to the subway route in northwest Queens from now through mid-October.
MTA crews are replacing track panels on the Manhattan-bound side of the line through Oct. 15, causing service changes during the middle of the day. The work began on Aug. 23.
The work affects Manhattan-bound travelers on weekdays for eight weeks, a MTA spokesperson said.
Manhattan-bound N trains will run express from Astoria Boulevard to Queensboro Plaza from 9:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
There will also be no W train service in Queens during the same time frame, from 9:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays.
N and W service during morning and afternoon rush hours as well as evenings will run as normal.
Service interruptions will expand to weekends as well next month.
MTA crews will start track panel replacement work on weekends, beginning Sept. 11. For five weekends, Manhattan-bound N trains will run express between Astoria Boulevard and Queensboro Plaza from 3:45 a.m. Saturday until 10 p.m. Sunday.
The W line is unaffected as it doesn’t operate on weekends.
