Tot lot on 48th Avenue to officially reopen today

May 22, 2017 Staff Report

The children’s playground on the corner of 48th Avenue and 5th Street—known as the tot lot—is scheduled to officially reopen today after undergoing a major overhaul.

The playground, which is for 2-to 4-year-olds, reopens with a jungle gym, slide, climbing area and a soft surface.

The overhaul represents the second phase of the upgrades to the park space along 48th Avenue between Vernon Boulevard and 5th Street. The first phase, which involved the revamp of the basketball and handball courts, was completed last summer.

That spot has been closed and chained for 4 years and under construction for 2 years at a cost of $350,000. Glad it is open though.

Happy, happy happy with the design. Perfect for little ones. Thank you NY State designers. (This is a New York State park, folks.)

The almost-but-not-quite the weekend lag leaves hungry commuters faced with another choice to make throughout their day and the array of food truck options in busy areas like Jackson Heights offers customers convenience and delicious food without breaking the bank, two features that can feel vital, particularly with rising costs of living and pressure from inflation.
