Thieves take advantage of real estate boom, steal pipes and fittings from construction site

Even thieves are starting to take advantage of the real estate boom.

Police are searching for two men who gained entry to a Queens Plaza development site and stole copper pipe and fittings.

The alleged crime took place at 41-22 24th Street, a site where a 12-story, 87-unit building is nearing completion. The incident took place on May 31st at 6 pm, according to police.

The suspects allegedly got onto the site by breaking the padlock and chain. They then smashed in a basement door before removing the equipment and fleeing the scene, police said.

Police describe the individuals as males, black, approximately 30-40 years of age, last seen wearing construction uniforms.

Police have released a surveillance video of the suspects and are asking anyone with any information to call Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.

Frank, and the Anonymous coward. If the thieves turn out to be Caucasian, or some other ethnicity, are you going to acknowledge your mistaken presumptions?
