The man behind Big Bird to be at Museum of Moving Image Sunday

The man behind Big Bird is going to be at the Museum of the Moving Image this Sunday.

Carroll Spinney, the 80-year-old puppeteer, who is known for his roles as Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch will be greeting fans at the museum prior to the screening of a film about his illustrious career.

Attendees will be able to have their photos taken with Spinney from 1:30 to 2 pm, which will be following by the screening of the film, “I am Big Bird: The Carroll Spinney Story.”

The film delves into the life of Spinney as it relates to his famous character.

Spinney and his wife, Debi Spinney, will take part in a question-and-answer session following the screening.

The festivities are part of the museum’s “Spring Family Day” which will include free set design and animation activities for kids and families. Tickets to the film screening will cost $15 (see below).

Thanks for the information on the event. I attended and the movie was great and it was fantastic to hear from the Spinneys and Oscar after the movie.
