The police have arrested a man who allegedly plowed his SUV into a scooter in Long Island City Wednesday and then fled the scene leaving the victim on the roadway in critical condition.
Dwayne Bovell, of 116th Street in Richmond Hill, was driving a black Porsche SUV south bound on Vernon Boulevard at around 6 p. m. July 20 when he hit a 30-year man on a scooter at the 44th Drive intersection.
The scooter rider was riding westbound when he was struck, leaving him with severe head injuries.
EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue where he was listed in critical condition.
Bovell has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in a serious injury.
Wearing a helmet might have helped the guy out.
