Permits have been filed for a 116-room hotel in Long Island City.
The new hotel would rise to 16 stories, or 179 feet, at 38-59 11th St. The site, currently vacant land, is two blocks from the Queensboro Bridge.
The plans call for a hotel spanning over 54,000 square feet, with eight rooms each from floors two through 14. The remaining two floors will hold six rooms.
The hotel will also come with a breakfast area, a business center, a fitness and laundry room, and 31 enclosed parking spaces.
The developer is listed as Teddy Li, who is also constructing a nine-story, 61-room hotel in Chinatown, according to YIMBY. Li also filed similar permits for a 16-story hotel at the site in 2014.
The new addition to the line up of Long Island City hotels will be designed by Gene Kaufman Architect, based in Manhattan.
Records show the property was purchased from Pyco Properties, LLC or $6.2 million in 2013.
The developer did not immediately respond to questions on the project.

Just another “Hotel” turned homeless shelter! “Hotels” make more money from the city when they are used as homeless shelters.
“Hotel lodgings cost way more than shelters — an average of $222 a night, when social services are included, versus $150 — and advocates and lawmakers say it’s a bigger rip-off than mini-bar M&M’s.” They’re spending $7,716 a month when we could have a fabulous apartment for $3,000!”
Wouldn’t you build a homeless shelter….uhmmm Hotel?!
WTF!!!! Another 116 room homeless hotel coming to LIC. 116 Rooms x $350 per night to house a homeless family, don’t forget the drug addiction counselor, the nutritionist, the Yoga Instructor and social worker, the food delivery service which brings in fruits and milk, bagels, boxed cereal in the mornings and 95 security cameras, the 10 round the clock 24/7 security DHS officers that equals to $40,600 per day x 365 days = $14,819,000 per year paid by NYC Tax Payers!!!! How do I sign on and become an investor in Teddy Li’s company???? WHAT A SCAM!!!!! HOW MUCH MONEY HAS JIMMY VAN BRAMER TAKEN FROM TEDDY LI AND HIS STRAW DONORS????
how do you think Mr. JVB is building his war chest up by taking money from all the real estate developers — look up “Queens Crap” and they have articles how much money — he has been taking money from day one –
The City Planners who allow for any and all of this unnecessary building should be fired
This will be a homeless shelter in a year or two or three. Mark my word.
That’s preferable to homeless people ion the street with nowhere to go. Homeless people (our neighbors) are not going to improve their lives unless they have a place to stay.
Hey this was reviewed by Lisa Deller CB2 Chairman of the Land Use Committee and was approved during her tenure. She works as VP for a RE finance fund, is the National Equity Fund financing Teddy LI? Did JBV recieve funding for his campaigns from Teddy Li?
It’s time to go to the CB2 meeting and tell them to “just say no” to new hotels
The developer is listed as Teddy Li which means it will be a homeless shelter —
Hmmmm, new hotel being built less than 200 feet from the projects – tourists are going to love the authentic Queensbridge flavor (or flavour for the british tourists).
Can you say “hello homeless shelter”?
Why do we need another Hotel???? The ones we have are being turned into HOMELESS SHELTERS. Will this be the next and newest HOMELESS SHELTER??????
yes it will be and you can take that to the bank for sure —
