No. 7 train weekend service returns

Vernon BoulevardMay 30, 2013 Staff Report

After 3 months, the No. 7 train weekend cuts are over.

The MTA cut weekend service between Queensboro Plaza and Manhattan from Dec. 29 through March 25 to install a new signal system.

The MTA said the closures were part of a four-year plan to install a new signaling system and make upgrades to the tunnel that goes below the East River.

Further service cuts are likely to take place in fall. However, a MTA spokesman was not able to provide any dates.

Two thieves were caught on camera stealing an ATM at an East Elmhurst convenience store just before Christmas.

The NYPD says the two perpetrators belong to a three-man crew that has broken into 49 commercial establishments across Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx in the last four months of 2024. In each incident, two of the crooks haul away ATM machines before speeding away from each crime scene in stolen vehicles driven by a getaway driver.
