Citi Bike is throwing a party at Hunters Point South at the end of this month to celebrate its long-awaiting Queens arrival.

The event, held in conjunction with the Hunters Point Parks Conservancy and Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer’s office, will take place on Saturday, August 29, from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Citi Bike will be offering attendees $25 off the price of an annual membership, which typically runs for $149 per year.

To date, 10 out of the 12 stations planned for installation in LIC are up and running, with the remainder likely to be put in shortly.

The event, called the Citi Bike LIC Dock Party, will take place at the park near the new Citi Bike station at Center Ave & Borden.

The party will include: arts & crafts from Recycle A Bicycle;  free exercise classes from LIC YMCA;  specials at LIC Landing during the event; and face painting for children >

“We’re thrilled to finally have Citi Bike in Queens, so we’re doing what anyone would do to get to know their new neighbors — we’re throwing a party,” said Dani Simons, a spokesman for Citi Bike, in a statement. “And as a special ‘dock-warming’ present to our new neighbors we’re offering $25 off new Annual Memberships through the end of the month.”

Meanwhile, Rob Basch, the president of the Hunters Point Parks Conservancy, said “Citi bike is a great addition for the residents of LIC; it gives people a healthy transportation option.”
