Car Stolen From Long Island City Auto Body Shop: NYPD

March 22, 2021 By Allie Griffin

A car was stolen from a Long Island City auto body shop earlier this month and police are searching for the suspect.

A 44-year-old man who was looking to get his vehicle repaired had parked his 2017 Toyota Camry outside A&P Auto Body and Repair Inc., located at 22-01 37th Ave., on Friday, March 12, police said.

An alleged thief  — instead of a mechanic — hopped inside the unlocked Camry just before 11 a.m. and took off. He drove southbound on 22nd Street, police said.

The NYPD said the suspect is a light-skinned man with a beard and mustache. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and black shoes, police said.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or on Twitter @NYPDTips. All calls are strictly confidential.
