Mu Ramen, the pop-up noodle shop that had been operating out of Bricktown Bagels, is likely to open a brick-and-mortar store at 12-09 Jackson Avenue.
The ramen shop, which has tried to keep the exact location of its restaurant under wraps, has applied for a liquor license at the site where the former ice cream store Malu was located. Malu closed at the end of last month.
The restaurant, which will be operated by husband-and-wife team Joshua Smookler and Heidy He, was launched in November out of the Bricktown Bagels, where it began serving steam buns and bowls of ramen in the evenings.
The couple have said they expect to open their restaurant this summer. Neither could not be reached for this story.
The restaurant has won high praise in the New York Times and several other outlets.

Great news, first Hibino and now Mu Ramen just around the corner!
During the summer months, sure, they’d do great, but then they’d have to shut down during the colder months and maybe they have a new location already in mind or are going into another venture.
They should do fine because they have a business that is active throughout the year and their NYTimes reviews will help.
I still think Malu would make a killing if it teamed up with Coffeed in Coffeed’s new waterfront location. I would walk and drag my girls to Malu in the middle of the sweltering heat of the summer to get ice cream because we loved it so much. Imagine how much business they would get if they were right in the park and next to the ferry station.
Sorry to see Malu go, but I’m interested on how the noodle shop does at this location.
Jackson Blvd. will hopefully come in its own in the next year or so.
