Police have released footage of a man wanted for punching an MTA employee in the face and chasing him with a golf club inside Queens Plaza subway station Tuesday.

On April 7, at around 2:03 p.m., the suspect approached an on-duty MTA worker in the mezzanine area of the station in order to ask him a question, police said.

Police said that once the suspect got close enough, he suddenly punched the worker in the face breaking the victim’s jaw.

The transit worker then ran for safety but was chased by the suspect, according to police. The victim was able to evade a further attack.

The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction with two other men, police said. Surveillance footage released by the NYPD shows the suspect running down a hallway with a golf club in his hand.

The MTA condemned the attack.

“Any assault of an MTA worker is always reprehensible,” said NYCT Interim President Sarah Feinberg in a statement. “Assaulting a transit worker doing their part to keep New Yorkers safe in the middle of a pandemic is despicable.”

“We’re working with the NYPD as it searches for these perpetrators and will do everything we can to support prosecution to the fullest extent of the law,” she added.

Anyone with information in regard to the identity of this male is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM, on Twitter @NYPDTips.

Another disproportionately effected individual running amuck! I think we need to undo this “bail reform” and end the rewards for criminals. Perhaps that will help instead of providing criminals with Mets tickets, pre-paid debit cards and phones. Remove the revolving doors from prison and lock them in.

It appears on the front page of neighborhood on this site there attacks, burglaries, robberies and assaults from the very people who are “disproportionately effected” yet these individuals photographed or recorded are out without any coverings or ppe and are committing these crimes. What a crock.

Citizens need to be allowed to purchase and possess guns freely, especially in this crisis. What a citizen supposed to do if the police cannot protect him or her?
