Alewife, the Long Island City-based brewpub, is opening its first fully-fledged brewery this summer.

The brewery will be located in Sunnyside in a 7,500-square foot warehouse space on 39th Street and Skillman Avenue, reports Edible Manhattan.

Alewife, which originally opened as a bar in 2011 on 51st Avenue, began producing small batches of brand originals at its Long Island City establishment like “Death to Ego”, “Meadowmaker”, and “Thousand Stars” about a year ago.

Patrick Donagher, the founder of Alewife Brewing Company along with Keir Hamilton, has been working toward opening a separate brewery for years. The brewing company is an offshoot of the bar.

The pair recently took to the company’s Instagram page to share their excitement about the Sunnyside debut, posting a picture where he stood on a delivery truck next to his newly-delivered beer tank:

“beyond excited to breakground very soon, THANKS to everyone for the support, we’ll deliver the goods soon. Much Love and watch this space…..”

Donagher also runs the bar and three other pubs with his wife, Roz Donagher, in Manhattan: Fools Gold, The Jeffrey, and The Rochard.
