Gantry Bar & Kitchen Turns Two, Refreshes Food Menu, Brings Back Customer Favorites

Jan. 17, 2018 Staff Report

A popular Irish gastropub on Vernon Boulevard turns two next month and to celebrate its owners are refreshing the food menu following customer feedback.

Gantry Bar & Kitchen, located on 47-02 Vernon Blvd., opened in February 2016 offering quality food in addition to a wide selection of draft beer.

The food menu, however, is about to undergo some changes based on customer request.

“We are introducing some food options for those with dietary restrictions and are bringing back some customer favorites with a little twist to them,” co-owner Paula Griffin said.

Chefs from the now-shuttered Vernon Blvd. locale “Alobar” have joined the kitchen staff at Gantry Bar to bring on items such as the vegan-friendly Quinoa Burger, made with lentils and roasted red pepper on whole wheat pita bread. The bread can be swapped out with romaine lettuce for those seeking the gluten-free option.

Kale & chicken salad is also now available, served with beets, red onions, almonds and topped with creamy oregano dressing.

Old favorites that are returning to the menu include fish and chips prepared with ale batter, old bay seasoning and now served with chipotle tomato aioli.

Hot food items such as beef stew and chicken pot pie are also making a comeback, as well as the pub’s popular bacon and potato soup, made with chives, onions, fennel seed and served with both grilled cheese and a side salad.

“One of our most frequently requested items we are bringing back is the crispy buttermilk chicken sandwich, which along with a new secret recipe will be to die for,” Griffen added.

She also explained that their new spicy papas and chorizo sausage meal, served with baby potatoes, red slaw and a red wine reduction, is expected to be a hit.

Griffin said she looks forward to providing many of these items during brunch hours as well.

“We are doing all this because we appreciate our loyal customers who have helped us reach our two year anniversary,” Griffin said.

Hours of operation at Gantry Bar & Kitchen are:

Monday – Thursday: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.
Friday: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 a.m.
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 a.m.
Sunday: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.

I’m not sure that bringing on Alobar chefs will rejuvenate things – judging by a few horrible meals there and comments from others on the same….
