19-year-old woman sexually assaulted in LIC hotel room by sanitation worker, police say

March 7, 2017 Staff Report

A city sanitation worker was arrested for sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman in a Long Island City hotel room early Monday morning, according to police.

The victim was in her hotel room waiting for a friend–who had left the room to return–when she heard a knock on the door around 5:40 am.

When she opened the door 40- year-old Department of Sanitation worker Jason Alvear forced his way in.

Alvear began grabbing the victim and pushing his body against hers while trying to remove her clothes.

She told him to stop and threatened to call the police. He responded by saying “I am the police” and flashed a fake badge.

She still called the police and when they arrived, they found Alvear in the lobby of the hotel, where they arrested him and charged him with sex abuse and impersonating a police officer.

The police did not reveal the name of the hotel where the incident occurred but the NYPost reported that it was the Red Roof Inn on Hunters Point Avenue.

Oh sure, rrreeeeal close to the subway..only about a 2 mile walk…but I’m sure the stunning views of the Newtown Waste Treatment Facility and the Queens Expressway makes it worth it. Just the ideal tourist destination…after all, with budget hotels all over the heart of LIC….Red Roof Inn is the place where all the “good people” are staying …sorry, I don’t buy it.

You sound like a frightened little kitten who’s never ventured far from your safe little home. Do you really go through life imaging the worst in all you encounter (and using WAY too many ellipses in the process?)

Dear morons, a lot of people stay at that hotel. Especially because it’s close to the train and prices are not too insane. My husband and I went there. And guess what. We are good people!
She probably dropped the charges out of shear fear. Many raped young ladies do that unfortunately. Stop judging and let’s just be glad she is a survivor.

why am i not surprised that the charges were dropped? hmmm could it possibly be because there’s something more to the story? As I said, I find it VERY unlikely that a 19 year old tourist would stay (or even find) a crap budget hotel like this…But wait, since there’s no mention of being a tourist, she must be a local…than the question is..why would a local 19 year old stay here unless your looking for trouble…or perhaps….clients.

a 19 year old staying in a desolate, 3rd world hotel like this? Why? Who in their right mind would stay in a place like this…unless….you just happen to be the mob, drug exchange clients, Prostitutes? Deep digger folks and you just might uncover a massive prostitution ring like that AWFUL kew gardens motel.

There are many legitimate reasons for someone to stay overnight in a motel and this is not a bad area. Your imagination and your negative outlook on the world makes me wonder how you could possibly enjoy life.
