64-year-old dead following LIC hit and run

A 64-year old man has died following a hit-and-run in Long Island City on Friday night.

Kumar Ragunath was struck at 10:25 pm on Northern Boulevard and 40th Road by a black or dark colored Chevy Blazer, which was traveling in the right lane going westbound on Northern Blvd, according to police. The car struck Ragunath as he was trying to cross Northern Blvd outside of the marked crosswalk.

The vehicle fled the scene and the NYPD is searching for the driver.

Three officers found Ragunath, unconscious and unresponsive with severe head trauma and a broken leg. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
