Demand high for pricey apartments by Queensboro Plaza

Crescent Club

Feb. 5, 2013 Staff Report

Many luxury apartments located next to Queensboro Plaza are being rented.

The owners of the Crescent Club, located at 41-17 Crescent Street, announced today that they have leased 100 apartments in their 130 apartment building. They claim that their building’s proximity to the 7, N and Q subway lines at Queensboro Plaza—and the building’s up market amenities—are the primary drivers behind such demand.

The Crescent Club provides many tenants with views of New York City and the waterfront. The building offers a mix of one- , two- and three-bedroom apartments, according to a statement released by Meadow Partners and Simon Development, the owners.

“The continued leasing success at Crescent Club further demonstrates the … the growing market recognition of Long Island City as a viable residential alternative,” said Jacqueline Urgo, president of The Marketing Directors, the building’s exclusive marketing and leasing agent.

Monthly rents currently begin from $2,625, with immediate occupancy available.

Crescent Club offers plenty of recreational and social amenities–including a fitness center, a residents’ lounge and a business center.

The rooftop “Sky Club” features sweeping Manhattan skyline views. There’s also a landscaped backyard with an outdoor pool.

Queens Borough President Donovan Richards announced on Monday a long list of recommendations to approve the city’s OneLIC Neighborhood Plan with conditions.

The sweeping proposal entered the city’s Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP) in April, following certification by the City Planning Commission, and aims to transform a large portion of Long Island City with new zoning rules that would create nearly 14,700 housing units—including 4,300 affordable homes—alongside 14,400 jobs, over 3.5 million square feet of commercial and industrial space and expanded access to the East River waterfront.
