Old Queens Plaza factory to be preserved although it will get 44 story addition

Jan. 22, 2014 By Christian Murray

The latest renderings for a residential tower located at 23-10 Queens Plaza South have been unveiled, according to real estate website New York YIMBY.

Property Markets Group, the developer, has produced a rendering that showcases its plan for a 44-floor tower on top of an existing warehouse. The warehouse, which was the location of the 5-story former Eagle Electric factory, will be converted into parking and loft office space.

Permits for construction were filed late last year, which indicate a height of 481 feet, and a total of 391 apartments.

The preservation of the Eagle Electric Factory will allow the tower to engage with the street in a way that’s atypical for new construction in Long Island City, reports New York YIMBY.

Construction is expected to begin this month, and the entirety of the project will measure nearly 340,000 square feet. Completion is expected to take place before 2017.

Plans have undergone changes since PMG’s acquisition was first revealed late last year, as initial reports were that the development would be residential-only, and that the old warehouse would be razed.

Stupid IS as Stupid Does

And we wonder why there are more traffic fatalities in the area? No Poindexters in the group of developers eating LIC alive. Just a bunch of greedy cretins.
