A man has been arrested for biting the ear of a fellow resident during a fight inside a veterans’ shelter in Long Island City Wednesday.

Donald Wright, 62, was arrested for attempted assault and harassment yesterday for allegedly biting the left ear of a 65-year-old man inside Borden Avenue Veterans Residence at around 7:35 a.m., according to police.

Wright allegedly approached the victim in a fighting stance inside the 21-10 Borden Ave. location and then bit him, causing lacerations to his ear, police said.

The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition where he received multiple stitches, police said. A report on the safety alert app Citizen stated that the victim’s ear had been bitten right off.

Wright and the victim are both residents of the shelter, cops said.

Police said they do not know what sparked the incident or if the two men had been arguing beforehand.

They need NYPD working in there. I had to fight to protect myself on the regular in there. Most of the staff are indifferent to client safety so we have to take it into our own hands. There was a man who pulled out a knife on me multiple times in front of a security guard supervisor. There was no report of it at all, a matter of fact the staff portrayed me to be an EDP for reporting it saying I imagined it.

So I did the right thing. I fought him in front of everyone to initiate a safety transfer and I never saw him again. Then another day a guy attacked me, then another day again, and another day another guy. Then men were dying in front of our faces one by one without any answers why.

Like I said. Staff were indifferent, I’d say even cruel.
