Maloney to Introduce Bill Providing Student Loan Forgiveness to Frontline Healthcare Workers

Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney at a CB2 meeting in January (QueensPost)

April 9, 2020 By Christian Murray

Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney will be introducing legislation to provide student loan relief for frontline health care workers.

Maloney’s bill—dubbed the Student Debt Forgiveness for Frontline Health Care Workers Act—would relieve doctors, nurses and other healthcare professions of their graduate student loan debt if they are providing care for COVID-19 patients.

“Medical professionals in hospitals and other medical settings are operating in extraordinarily difficult and dangerous circumstances to provide care for critically ill COVID-19 patients and protect our communities,” she said. “The least we can do to recognize their service is to forgive their graduate student loan debt.

The legislation would cover the debt of recent graduates as well as older medical professionals who are still paying off loans.

Definitely pass this bill..especially those who work in intensive care units taking care of critical patients in ventilators w/ the least PPE’s provided..their lives on line as is..no amount of compensation would equal their dedication for

what they do!!!!

Wow that is would be wonderful for them—-they put their lives on the line—that is the least that could be done for them!!!

So how equitable is this? Let’s say one owes $2,000 and another owes $20,000. Then both loans are forgiven. Clearly the second one benefited way more. Why not pay all workers a set amount instead of proposing these knee jerk reactionary measures?

A wonderful idea! I as a taxpayer would be will to pay a few dollars more each tax period. This should be instead of paying for Dreamers and for campaign contributions. I am NOT nor is any member of my family involved in health care. I also think other support workers in our hospitals should also be compensated. THEY ARE ALL PUTTING THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE FOR US!

Trump is giving every citizen free money from taxpayers

That upsets you too right? It’s redistribution of wealth, a key part of socialism.

I mean, otherwise you’d be a laughable hypocrite…
