A trendy Chinese restaurant erupted into flames in Long Island City earlier today.
Fire engulfed the building housing Xi’an Famous Foods, located at 26-19 Jackson Ave., at approximately 1:20 p.m., the FDNY said.

The fire department brought the blaze under control by 3:31 p.m., a FDNY spokesperson said. It took 33 units and 140 firefighters to put it out.
There was one non life threatening injury. The FDNY is investigating the cause of the fire.

Welp, it’s zoned for R-10 so we’ll probably get more housing at least.
The air rights were transferred to one of the large buildings. They could only replace what’s existing unless there is an up-zoning.
Nope, Rockrose owns this and air rights from neighboring buildings have already been sold if my memory is correct. Was this place doing okay? Insurance money maybe?

It was continually busy day and night. This wasn’t an insurance hit.
