A dental office in Long Island City is collecting candy this Halloween to make life a bit sweeter for children and families in need.
ProHEALTH Dental at 50-11 Vernon Blvd. will be accepting donations of candy from Nov. 1 through Nov. 4 and will be giving the candy–as well as dental supplies–to children at Ronald McDonald House of Long Island.
Ronald McDonald House supports families undergoing financial difficulty who have sick children.
Residents from all around will be able to exchange their candy for a dental goody bag consisting of a toothbrush, toothpaste, a flosser and a brushing calendar.
ProHEALTH Dental operates eight locations across New York state, including the one on Vernon Boulevard, and all locations will be participating in the program.
The dental office also operates locations in Astoria – at 29-14 Ditmars Blvd. – and Corona – at 37-31 103rd St. This is the first year that ProHEALTH Dental is hosting candy giveback for Halloween.
The candy–along with free toothbrushes, toothpaste and other items–will be given to families at Ronald McDonald House.
Anna Graci of ProHEALTH Dental said that the company still wanted to promote good oral health even though it will be giving out candy.
“You can have candy, but you also have to brush your teeth,” Graci said. “A lot of dental offices do givebacks at this time of the year and we wanted ours to be meaningful. We were thinking of causes close to our heart and it was a no brainer to help out families in need.”
Graci hopes to receive a “truckload” of candy by Nov. 4.
