Hunters Point Parks Conservancy

Aug. 8, 2019 By Allie Griffin

The Hunters Point Parks Conservancy is hosting a fundraising event next month to celebrate the parks, conservancy and community that help the Long Island City waterfront thrive.

The second annual “Spotlight of the Season”event will offer attendees an exciting range of activities, performances and food for families and adults on Sept. 13 at the LIC Landing by COFFEED.

The event begins at 6 p.m. with a family hour complete with lawn games with ZogSports, a bubble demonstration from Bubblemaster Gabe, face painting, a photobooth and an environmental education station from NYS Parks.

Then from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. the landing will come alive with performances and demonstrations including music, dance, fitness and magic, featuring many of the performers who have provided programs in the park this year.

Tickets for the event will also include food, drinks and beer from multiple local Queens breweries.

The Conservancy will be honoring Tom Balsley, the visionary landscape architect who designed much of the parks, and Queens Brewers for their support over the last several years at the Spotlight of the Season event.

Tickets for the event can be purchased here and range from $25 for children to $150 for a family of four. Single adult tickets, as well as VIP tickets are also available. Festive attire is required.

All proceeds will go to the Conservancy and will help fund the more than 150 free programming events that it hosts throughout the year, including fitness classes, movies, concerts, art, dance and children’s activities.

Public Parks being converted to private spaces charging a fee under a conservancy banner. Totally against it.
