June 10, 2019 By Staff Report

A six-part music program will be kicking off this Thursday on the Long Island City waterfront.

The 4th annual “LIC Landing Live,” a summer music series that will feature performances from a variety of artists until Aug. 22, will run every other Thursday from 6 p.m. through 8 p.m.

All music programs are free, open to the public and feature Queens based artists.

The first performance will be Arun Luthra’s Konnakol Jazz Project which consists of Jazz artists of Indian heritage. The group aims to fuse a modern post-bop sound with classical Indian elements.

The series is sponsored by the Hunters Point Parks Conservancy (HPPC) and co-sponsored by the Queens Council on the Arts and COFFEED.

Rob Basch, president of the HPPC, said it took about two to three months to plan the series, and that the series draws a big crowd.

“The waterfront is a great place for live music,” Basch said. “It’s a perfect setting for a band to perform with the city in the background.”
