Vernon Grille at 48-20 Vernon Boulevard

A Greek-American restaurant has opened for diners on Vernon Boulevard.
Vernon Grille, located at 48-20 Vernon Boulevard, opened on Oct. 12 and is serving staples like grilled octopus, spanakopita, gyros, and grilled meats along with American foods like burgers, buffalo wings, and sandwiches. Soups and salads will also be prepared at the restaurant. Entrees range from $10.00 to $25.00.
The restaurant seats 40 people, and sidewalk seating is also planned for the locale, which should double its capacity. The locale has yet to receive its wine and beer license.
George Tsiolis, the owner, has been in the restaurant business for over 40 years, and feels “very good” about coming out of retirement to run the restaurant located at the former site of San Remo.
“It will be about quantity, quality, service, and cleanliness,” Tsolis told the LIC Post.

My chicken was so dry. I took it to go and they forgot dressing
Got Takeout on Sat night – the place was packed. Food was decent, we tried the souvlaki, the gyro, the octopus and the baklava. Baklava needs work. Looking at the dine-in customers plates, while we waited for our order to be ready (took 10-15 mins tops) it appears you get more food when you dine-in vs take out. Inside feels a bit cramped due to the booming business – once the luster wears off a bit, we will try to dine-in.
Tried a gyro here, not the best I’ve ever had but pretty good and the place is nice. Compared to what was there before this place is gold. Good addition to the neighborhood, good luck to them.
I ate here last night and the food and the portion size were both great and tasty! From looking at the menu everything is very reasonably priced. I’m very happy to have another dining choice and welcome to the neighborhood!

I enjoyed my Gyro very much and my family really liked their food as well. Good luck and hope you guys are very successful. God knows it takes a lot of time and money to get a business started.

No, it is not. It was today, which is not Halloween. Just for the record, Slice Pizza, on the Halloween parade route, does not give candy to trick-or-treaters. Really? L’inizio Pizza had candy.
I had to wait 30 minutes for my take out order yesterday – they have a lot of kinks to work out. They clearly forgot my order, never apologized. Food was good though.
Enough with the negative and forward with the positive people!! Give new hard-working business owners a chance, will you?? After all, what doesone prefer…a neglected, abandoned, eye-sore in the neighborhood or…a new place to eat some good food?? We ALL have options and shoud be able to determine what’s “high/pricey” or reasonable for each of us…it’s a matter of personal prefernces, budget and choices—some wil spend the extra money on alcohol (even a couple of six-packs of doestic beer ends up costing a pretty penny!!) and others, prefer to grab a full course dinner or share small plates with friends and family…once in a while!! Good luck to this small business owner/retiree—he couldn’t have sat home, enjoyed a carefree, easy life now but decided in taking on a new restaurant with all it’s many responsibilities and worries—kudos to him and may other eateries in the area…follow in his footstep!! (Problem: people here have too much and… sadly, many complain too much!!) Support your local small businesses!!!
Sorry to generalize, but Greek restaurant entrepreneurs usually have above average business sense. It’s still a tough neighborhood (rent!) but I wish him well. I’ll check it out soon; we usually head up to Gregory’s 26 for Greek, but a Vernon option would be welcome.

Everthing is great, however the price seems a bit high, for what it is.
The same can be said for any housing in the area. High rents, high prices. If you can pay over $2k for less then 500 sq/ft, you can afford to pay $10 for a gyro.

Stopped by today and picked up a beautiful garden salad with chicken.
I met George many months ago when he was sitting in a then vacated San Remo pizza. I wish him the best. The food was delicious and the staff pleasant

Meanwhile, the rest of us are trying to make a community that’s worthwhile living in.
Any and all additions to the Vernon Blvd restaurant/retail community are welcome with open arms. Here’s just hoping that the landlords are as welcoming as the residents
Besides evaluating the mental health of some oddball loser, you can’t use Likes/Dislikes as a fair gauge of anything on this site. What normal person with a life can be against a new restaurant taking over a spot that has been a food service spot for decades?
