Play piano outside in several Queens spots next month

HPPS 2015

May 29, 2017 By Christian Murray

A number of eye-catching pianos will be stationed outdoors in 60 high profile spots throughout the city next month with several placed in Queens.

Through an initiative by Sing for Hope, a volunteer arts outreach organization, pianos will be installed in eight Queens locations starting on June 5, including at Hunters Point South Park and outside Kaufman Astoria Studios.

The public, from amateurs to experts, will be invited to sit down and play.

The program, according to its organizers, aims to bring not only music but also visual art to communities, as each piano will have its own design from an artist.

The pianos will remain until June 25, when Sing for Hope will donate them to under-resourced schools, according to a release from the organization.
