May 1, 2017 Staff Report
Work is close to being completed on a CVS pharmacy that will occupy most of the ground floor retail space at Hunters Point South Commons.
The drug store, to be located at 1-50 50th Avenue, is expected to open an 11,000 square foot store in June, according to a representative of the company.
Hunters Point is currently served by Duane Reade, located at 47-02 5th Street, as well as some independent pharmacies.
An Italian restaurant called Piatto is also moving into the ground floor of the Hunters Point South Commons building.

Nature’s Prescriptions provides excellent service – I don’t know what you are talking about with your complaints.
can’t wait for this to open. need more options in the neighborhood. would prefer a local pharmacy but will see if it can compete with light groceries compared to the expired stuff at keyfood… cough i mean urban market across the street
Nature’s Prescriptions Pharmacy, 5-29 50th Ave, Long Island City, NY 11101
You realize that there is the Vernon Pharmacy on Vernon btw 48th&49th and Natures Prescriptions on 50th btw Vernon&5th, right? Both are local and provide better service than DR or CVS.
don’t like them. just my preference. they do not provide good service. Will see if CVS does or doesn’t provide good service when it opens.
Josh is a wonderful Pharmacist and so are his Pharmacists….
Vernon Pharm is awesome. They call your doc to get refills, and will deliver Rxs to your door. They are courteous, nice, and will even include non-RX items in your delivery if you ask nicely. The fun selection of $5 sunglasses and the sometimes there cat are fun neighborhood touches too.
How about a Chase ATM somewhere closer to Duane Read? Now that Citi has the contract with Duane Read, and the fee is $3, it is a 15 minute walk to a Chase ATM. I will definitely go to Duane Reads less now. They should not have let that contract go.
Get a schwab account, they let you use any ATM for free.
You can also have a checking and investment account under the same umbrella with Schwabb?
There’s a Chase bank at 10-51 Jackson Avenue
how is that a 15 minute walk for you?
If you live down by 46th Ave. and Center it’s about a 12 minute walk. Deceptively far actually.
how is there a situation between chase and 46th ave do you need to get to an ATM immediately that a short walk is a problem? And if it takes you 12 mins to walk from 46th to 50th ave, then… don’t know what to say. it’s usually 30 seconds to 1 minute a block unless there is stopping you from walking normal speed. If that’s true, then having an ATM outside your home is the least of your problems. good luck.
Maybe your fancy shuttle bus to the really close subway stop could chauffeur your slow walking, lazy self to the Chase? Or you could get checking with a better bank that reimburses the ATM fees (e.g. Wells Fargo, Schwab, etc)
ANOTHER ITALIAN RESTAURANT ??? As a resident of Long Island city , I am annoyed and frustrated . There are several other cuisines available , this is NYC for god’s sake . Why are there so many Italian/ pizza/ burger restaurants ? Surely this community is much more cultured and deserving of other cuisines . Big sigh!
“Cultured”…ha!
Anyway, what about a bona fied supermarket? Anything, besides a Whole Foods…b/c let’s face it, when a WH moves into the neighborhood it’s all downhill from there…
Yeah, we’re so “cultured” we let our dogs shit at will and dump trash all over our parks. Get off your high horse, toots.
what does this got ot do with CVS opening? please leave troll..
The rent is way to high to try anything experimental.
it’s a bedroom community that no one lives in for more than 2 years. you have 53% owner occupancy for condos.
The only culture here is in the art that no one appreciates enough, and the artists who create it.
HURRAY!
the crowds, traffic mess and NOISE at the corner of HPS Commons is totally WRONG!!! That corner of 1-50, 50th and Cebtral IS already dangerous, specially on weekends with cars blocking and/or speeding down w/o stopping which makes it difficult not to mention frustrating and often dangerous to cross with pets and kids to the promenade/park!! Well…there goes the tenants!! Thought this was supposed to be a quiet, residential alternative to the busier surrounding areas and Manhattan!?!?!?!
You live in NYC… and you expect quiet?
Move to Hayden, nice and quit on this side, near Citibank building.
Move to Montana.
