A longtime dentist office in Long Island City will be moving about a block up Vernon Boulevard and expanding its services.
Hunters Point Dental Services, a 35 year institution in the area, will be moving to new offices this summer on the first floor of the residential building One Vernon Jackson at the intersection of Vernon Blvd and Jackson Ave.
The move comes as part of merger with the larger Long Island-based ProHEALTH Dental, which was completed in February.
“We’re basically merging and expanding,” said Sharon Treffeisen, a spokesperson for ProHEALTH Dental. “We are building a brand new, state-of-the art office that will house all the specialties under one roof so patients won’t need to be referred to other offices anymore.”
Hunters Point Dental Services already offers all aspects of general dentistry and some cosmetic dentistry, but the new offices will allow all dental specialties to be on-site.
Once the move is complete, in addition to general dentistry and pediatric dentistry, the office will have orthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics and cosmetic dentistry in the building.
The space is currently under renovation, and the dental office will likely open in the new space sometime in the summer, Treffeisen said.
Though the two dental practices will be merging, customers should not expect much to change about their care, Treffeisen assured. The practice will continue accepting most of the same insurances, and the staff at HPDS will be making the move as well.
There will also be focus on educating patients, Treffeisen said. “Our goal is to educate patients about their oral health and how it is part of their overall health and wellness. We teach how important it is to have routine checks and cleanings to avoid developing any chronic diseases,” she said.
As part of this mission, ProHEALTH Dental will make discounted preventative services available to those without dental insurance.
The practice will offer a program that covers all preventative care and a discount on all other dental care through its ProHEALTH Dental VIP program. The program costs $249 per year for each adult, $199 for the first and second child, and $99 for each additional child.
