A broken sprinkler at Gantry Plaza State Park will reopen tomorrow for the first time all summer.

The sprinkler, located in a portion of the park known as “Rainbow Park,” had been out of service all summer due to an issue with the UV filter system, according to Leslie Wright with the New York State Department of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation.

DNA Info first reported the sprinkler closure.

The issue was discovered when the Parks Dept. went to bring the spray pad online for the summer, according to Wright.

“Everyone can go enjoy it tomorrow,” Wright said. “We look forward to lots of cooling water for the kids and all park users.”

Another set of sprinklers were set up along the park grass during the closure, she added.

While Wright said she is not sure if those sprinklers will be removed, she said it is likely that they will be.

“People like to use that as a picnic area,” she said. “But that is up to park management.”

“If the community really likes them, we will see what we can do,” she added.
