A new salon promising high-end hair, nail and beauty services is now open on Jackson Avenue.
Luxy Lady Salon opened about two weeks ago at 10-17 Jackson Ave. and caters to men and women. The salon hopes to offer a one-stop-salon for high-end services that many travel to Manhattan to receive.
Services include hair blow dries and extensions, makeup, and manicures and pedicures. The salon emphasizes designer products such as Chanel, YSL and Dior nail polishes, Kevyn Aucoin makeup and Balmain hair extensions.
A package of five blow dries cost $200 and four mani/pedis starts at $180, or $215 for men. Makeup packages of five run between $190 and $335.
Founder and CEO Nichole Gerakaris, a Sunnyside resident who was “born into a vivacious Greek family of hairstylists and artists” worked as a freelance nail technician for two years before opening Luxy Lady, she wrote on her website.
Gerakis said she came to the field after becoming dissatisfied with a career in finance. She studied nail tech and, ultimately, decided to open the salon that she had always hoped in this neighborhood.
“When I was a professional in finance I would have to go into the City to get my hair done, come into Queens to get my nails done and not even be happy about it,” she said. “There are so many young professional women that need this and that’s what really gave me the push to go ahead and do it.”
Gerakis said that alongside her luxury products, she is also committed to hygiene and hair and nail health. She cited the fact that pedicure jets are removed and cleaned with hospital-grade disinfectant between clients.
“We really care about your hair, your face, and your nails at this salon,” she said. “That’s why I did this.”

Get behind this lovely salon. The owner is super kind and helpful, I got the best mani-pedi of my life and they did my make up and hair for a special event last week-end, making me feel so glam. The prior week-end I had friends in town for a special occasion and they all had hair and makeup done in a gorgeous, relaxing setting. I typically cannot stand nail salons for the horrible, head-ache inducing smell of nail polish. They use non-toxic, super high quality projects and it feels like you are in a far more expensive place than the prices they are charging. Congratulations to a fine addition to the neighborhood.
How can you endorse their pricing after just having to lose your own space because of ridiculous rents?
This is not a place for your average consumer in the neighborhood.
I support local business to the fullest extent but it should be accessible to all.
It should be accessible to all who can afford it. No welfare, please.
This place is awesome! I got my hair blown out and did a mani/pedi. I was very happy. You get what you pay for and it was soooo worth it… probably the best mani/pedi I’ve ever had!!! The owner was really nice too. I’m definitely going back.
I wonder what kind of rent these guys are paying. The retail space in that building has been vacant for such a long time. Has it been vacant this long because the rent was preposterous or for some other reason?
The sponsor was ridiculous in asking rent and I who they would take as a tenant
Along with $75 per person Sushi Daizen and this place, no one gives a shit about the residents who don’t make $250K a year or more.
PS, Modern spaces rented to Sushi Daizen too. $120 sq foot or $8000 a month.

Great, the perfect place for sHillary and the rest of the 1% to do their nails. Meanwhile the working poor of LIC have to go elsewhere to find a decent bowling alley.
Shut up!!
