A new urgent care center is set to open its doors next week in Hunters Point.
ProHealth will open their 26th urgent care center at 51-01 2nd St., according to ProHealth COO Walter LeStrange.
“We should be opened by next week,” LeStrange said. “We are just waiting on permits, but we anticipate opening on Monday.”
Urgent care centers provide immediate medical care, generally for patients who are unable to see a primary care physician quickly. ProHealth centers are open 365 days per year and accept walk-ins.
“Urgent care provides a high quality, lower cost alternatives than emergency rooms,” LeStrange said.
ProHealth will have between six and eight exam rooms, according to LeStrange. It will have an x-ray station, nurse’s station, physician station and a procedure room.
According to LeStrange, the Hunters Point ProHealth will have at least one physician and a physician’s assistant on site at all times. During busier times they will bring in more doctors as necessary.
“We have to learn the trends of the neighborhood,” LeStrange said. “As you trend your data you flex your staff’s schedule.”
He estimated that the busier times in Long Island City will be evenings and weekends.
“It is home to a large young professional community,” he said. “If that [estimate] is the case we could have two doctors at those times.”
The center will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the week and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.
The company decided to open their newest center in Long Island City due to the growing community and what they saw as a lack of health care options.
“There has been a lot of residential growth and there are not enough adequate health care options,” LeStrange said. “This is a good opportunity for us and the community.”
“Our goal is to offer the best service and highest quality medical care to the community,” he added.
ProHealth has urgent care centers throughout the boroughs and Long Island. They have several throughout Queens including College Point, Little Neck and Howard Beach.
The Hunters Point location is being opened in partnership with Northwell Health.
The company will open an additional 12 locations this year, he added.

When will this location open? As of today, 6/15/16 it is not yet open and was set to open in March.

We can have both you know. All the nail salons are always crowded, there is a need.
