Several Long Island City bars and restaurants are coming together to put on a Halloween pub crawl.

The event involves nearly 15 bars/restaurants located in or around Vernon Blvd each offering specials from 6 pm throughout the evening.

The event is being organized by Gregory Okshteyn, a local resident and owner of Station LIC. He aims to keep the festive Halloween spirit going after the popular children’s parade has finished.

“After the parade everything dies down and the restaurants aren’t full,” Okshteyn said. “We want to keep people in the area and entice new comers to stay and spend time in the neighborhood as opposed to go to the city.”

Each venue will be announcing its own specials, Okshetyn said. Station LIC will be offering $5 beers and $5 cocktails all night.stationlicphoto3

Jeff Blath, the owner of Alobar, said that events like these provide people with an incentive to explore new bars and restaurants in the area.  Patrons of one establishment might try another, he said.

He said that the event helps promote the neighborhood and that the bars and restaurants should come together for holiday events like this more often.

Blath said that he will be offering $5 pumpkin beer.

Meanwhile, Pat Burke, owner of Woodbines, said he too likes coming together for local events and promoting the area.

He said that Woodbines will be offering $5 beers on Oskar Blues Pinner IPA, Throegs Perpetual IPA, Radeberger Pilsner and Corona for $5.

Manducatis Rustica will be offering drink specials.
