A kid-oriented bike group will tour western Queens this weekend on a seven-mile “Zombie Ride.”
Families will meet Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Gantry Plaza State Park to pedal out around 10:15 a.m.
There will be face painting, and kids can decorate their bikes or wear costumes, Cristina Furlong, a Kidical Mass NYC organizer, said.
The roughly three-hour ride will run up the waterfront and into Astoria. Riders will make a stop at Coffeed and Brooklyn Grange on Northern Boulevard for snacks, and will pass by the Museum of the Moving Image, Rainey Park and Socrates Sculpture Park, where the tour ends.
The Zombie Ride is hosted by Kidical Mass NYC, a biking group focused on the city’s youngest riders.
“We want kids to be able to enjoy themselves [and] show off their neighborhood, how bikeable it is to get from place to place,” Furlong said.
Participating kids (ages seven and up) should have intermediate biking skills and feel comfortable riding on the road. Adults can register on Facebook here.
The 108th and 114th Precincts will ride along and monitor traffic.
