Macy’s will make Long Island City the home of its photo studio and set space.
The department store recently signed a lease to take over 150,000 square feet in the Factory Building, the 10-story building located at 30-30 47th Ave, to use to photograph its merchandise, according to a report by Crain’s New York.
Macy’s studio is currently located in its Fulton Street store in Brooklyn.
Macy’s was an original tenant in the Factory Building when the building was constructed in 1926. It used it as a furniture warehouse.
The building is about 1-million-square-feet and is owned by a partnership comprised of Atlas Capital, Square Mile and Invesco.
According to Crain’s, the deal with Macy’s is one of the biggest lease deals to be signed in Long Island City this year.
