The owner of the Forest Hills restaurant Danny Brown Wine Bar and Kitchen–the first Queens eatery to receive a Michelin Guide star–is opening a new establishment in Court Square.

Danny Brown, the owner, said that the restaurant will be “totally different” from the Forest Hills establishment. He said that he is developing a “new concept” for the LIC eatery, which will be located at 26-20 Jackson Avenue.

The Forest Hills restaurant has been open since 2006 and received a Michelin Guide star in 2011. It is known for serving a mix of Spanish and French cuisine.

Brown declined to provide specifics on the new concept, stating that he still has several details to work out. However, he noted that, like the Wine Bar and Kitchen, he will focus on offering organic, seasonal ingredients.

He added that he has “always been interested” in Long Island City.

“It’s a part of Queens that’s obviously in a little bit of transition, and it seems like an exciting place,” Brown said. “We’re going to see a lot of great things coming into Long Island City…and we’re thrilled to be part of it.”

Brown said he aims to open in October.

I was saddened to read that Danny Brown’s Wine Bar/Restaurant had closed. It was very well worth the drive from New Jersey to enjoy the entire experience; the intimate and welcoming atmosphere, the attentive service and the marvelous meals. Clearly, someone with great savvy, taste and skill was at the helm.
Please let me know if Danny Brown has opened elsewhere or is ready to do so after Covid loosens its grip on us.

More fantastic news for Court Square. Between Smogsabord, the new Sage General dinner concept, Danny Brown, M Wells, Il Falco, LIC Market, and soon Bia, there will be more interesting places to eat here than at the waterfront
