Esteé Lauder, the cosmetics company, is moving several employees from a Long Island location to a new tech hub space in Queens Plaza in the summer.

Dozens of information technology workers from the company’s research and development site in Melville will be heading to the Brewster Building at 27-01 Queens Plaza North, according to Newsday.

The Long Island-based news outlet obtained an internal memo handed out to the roughly 2,000 employees at Esteé Lauder’s Research Park. The memo said the selected employees will be moving to a “new technology hub” rented at the Queens Plaza building, set to open in July.

“Long Island City is a growing hub for startups, tech and digital companies, and our team will greatly benefit from being at the center of this fast-paced and vibrant environment,” said Michael Smith, chief information officer for the Melville location, according to Newsday.

A spokesperson for Esteé Lauder told the news site that the number of affected employees is “less than 10 percent” of the Melville workforce.

Several companies have announced plans to send some of their workforce to Queens Plaza and other parts of Long Island City. WeWork is set to open at the Brewster Building, and Bloomingdales’ announced in November that it will move 1,000 jobs to the Jacx development at 28-01 Jackson Ave.

The Brewster Building is also the headquarters for JetBlue.

Esteé Lauder did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Oh great these HIPSTERS want to move the fashion police into LIC. The trains are crowded enough already, how could DUMBLASIO let this happen? If I want to see haute couture I’ll go watch the video of Trump making out with Giuliani in drag.
